Just got a new Pencil stylus for the Paper53 app, had to try it out.

And of course, Dave had to give it a try too.

FTL258 Challenge

 It's been a while since I have stamped, so I looked for a challenge to help me along. This is for Clean & Simple Stamping's sketch challenge.

 Yes, Dave, this one is crooked. I didn't notice until i was done. LOL.

 I made this one for Michelle, who has a love of green and brown.

Supplies: PTI paper, stamps from A Muse & PTI, ink from PTI & Memento.

Ode to DaVinci

Ever since I saw the movie: Ever After, I have loved DaVinci's faces. The Head of a Woman (also known as La Scapigliata) is my favorite from that movie. I have found a few others, and this is a pencil drawing of it. This is my first attempt at a face since my high school art class. They have never been my favorite to work on. But Michelle has been inspiring me with all of hers.

And I am posting this to Art Journal Every Day.

Mixed Media Canvas

 

This is my first Mixed Media Canvas. So I thought I would post it to the Ponderings blog, working out of the journal. And the Artists in Blogland, Show & Tell post.

I have spent the last year, probably, watching videos, reading tutorials... trying to figure this out.

I had this old 14"x 18" canvas from years ago, so I decided to paint over my previous attempts to paint with acrylics. (I usually watercolor, so acrylics are very different for me!) 

 

 Can you see the difference in this 2nd pic and the first? I hated my one flower, so I decided to paste paper over it. The Eiffel Tower paper is from a gift bag that I love so much, I don't want to give it away. Instead I make copies of it, and reuse it again, and again.

  I cut out a shape of the leaves, well, I guess you would call it a mask. I placed it over a few of the leaves, and used an old Stampin Up word wheel, so that I could just stamp on the leaf. The one above is a partial phrase from Emily Dickinson.

 That center flower is my favorite because of the shading, and the bud just to the right of center. I used a med soft charcoal pencil to do the shadows, then smudged with my finger. Then I repainted some of the white highlights on the blooms.
I also used some bubble wrap for the bigger background dots.

This shows some washi tape, travel rub-ons, and white pen to do some lines of dots.

Sketchbook Delight 2: Lesson 1 Sketching Supplies

 Laura, Micah, & Collin came over to have a special art day. And we had a great time!

Flickr Inspired Sketch

 Michelle came over and we had fun sketching together. I was inspired by this favorite picture on Flickr.

I had fun doing all of the little tiles. I esp like the touches of green in all the blue.

Then I used a little white Pearl Pen to make a couple shiny. I wanted to do more, but was afraid I would get carried away.

Happy 19th Anniversary, Dave!

Since Dave has seen all of my "love" stamps, I thought I would do something different this year. Love Birds!
I sketched this on my new Paper app, and then printed it on photo paper. Notice the color difference, I love both versions!

Another sketch on IPad

Dave got me an app for the Ipad called Paper by FiftyThree. This is a quick sketch of a mushroom if you can't tell. ;) I think it looks alittle like a lamp.
I think I would like to have a mushroom stamp, maybe I should look into that.

New Pillow & Ipad Sketch

Laura and I worked on a new pillow ( the pattern is from sew 4 home: i love that site!!) for her living room, and I am trying to decide if it needs to live in my house instead. LOL! I am loving it. AND I tried my new buttonhole maker on my machine!! You put the button in it, and it makes the hole the exact length you need! How cool is that?!!

Dogwood Sketch

After seeing Alisa Burke's latest sketch, I just had to try a black/white flower sketch. I didn't want to copy hers straight up, so I found one of my favorite pics of Betty's, a dogwood bloom, and combined it with another pic on Flickr.

These are my 2 favorite spots on the sketch, I wish I had left a few more white spaces open. But I had fun doing it, and it was a pretty fast sketch while I watched tv.

i just got a Sepia Micron pen. and i love it!!

it stands off the page a little, i think.

Poppy

another sketch, this one is from a very cool poppy pic i found on Flickr. i like the way the colors blended in the background right under the main poppy.

Blind Contour Sketches

this is for the Alisa Burke Sketch class homework for Blind Contour drawing.
i only looked at the shells for the outline shape and did not look at the paper as i sketched, then went back to do the details.
it was a fun exercise!
again, no color.

i also used a Q-tip for smudging/shading. i think i like Q-tips better than paper stumps for shading.

this is pencil, and charcoal.

this one is Laura's shell. i sketched it from every angle, it is a very cool shell, but i didn't get a pic of it. this is done in a Micron pen.

Stippling Shells

the shells are from our trips to Seagrove Beach, FL. oh, i wish i was there right now!
the sketches are for the Alisa Burke Sketch class. the homework was using ink only, with dots or lines as shadows/shading.

i used to do stippling in art class in high school, this brought back memories of those classes. i like the crosshatching a little more.

Using an Experience Homework

This is for the Alisa Burke Sketch Class, "Using an Experience" homework. I chose a pic from our cruise to Puerto Rico. I don't really know what I was doing with the floating trees, but there they are.

More Repeating Shapes

Just another quick try for the repeating shapes homework from the Alisa Burke sketch class. I love that this is only a Micron pen and an aquapen used for this and I still got some good shading.

this is my inspiration for this sketch. it is a chair from West Elm.

Class Challenge: Repeating shapes

This is my inspiration pic for my latest sketch class challenge. The pillow is from The Textile Blog which has some pretty cool shapes and pattern work.

We were supposed to draw a repeating pattern, and make it go to the edges of the paper. I was trying to make it look like it has depth, and found I liked using watercolor to make shadows better than pen/crosshatches.

Mushroom Sketch

I was inspired by a pic that I saw on Flickr, for this sketch. The homework for Alisa Burke's class was repetition of shapes. I don't think this what she had in mind, but this is all I could think of that was my own idea, and not copying hers. I also like the way she did her shadows very dark. So that is the thought behind this one.

Sketch Class

I am taking Alisa Burke's online sketch class. I have been having fun doing the homework. I didn't realize that a regular pen would run when you add water with a watercolor brush.

This is the assignment for finding shapes, I liked the dried blooms on this hydrangea. I changed the background a little. (who wants a parking lot in a sketch?!!)
